Audition Prep Worksheet

This is a play about ME in a love relationship with someone.
What is my problem with them, and what am I going to do to solve that problem?

1: List the Facts

(These are things that would stand up in a court of law. I.e. time of day, place, marital status, employment, etc. Sometimes this is a statement by someone in the scene, sometimes it is provided by stage direction. Make sure you are listing a fact, not someone’s opinion.)

2: What do I say about myself?

(Write down the actual line – all of it.)

3: What do I say about others?

(Write down the actual line – all of it.)

4: What do others say about me?

(Write down the actual line – all of it.)

5: What inferences can I make about points 1-4 above?

(These are conclusions you come up with.)

6: What is the relationship between me and my partner?

(Find the love here. Believe in love at first sight.)

7:What is my problem with this person?

(Look for something grave and constant that will always be an underlying conflict in this relationship.)

8: What do I love/admire/envy/covet about this person?

(This is what keeps you in the scene.)

9: What is my dream – fantasy?

(Make it big and wonderful and specific. It must be something that lights YOUR fire.)

10: What am I fighting for?

(Seek the conflict with your partner to fulfill your dream. The key to your “fighting for” lies in the relationship with your partner.)

11: List the different ways I can do this. i.e. to beg, to punish, to invite with open arms, etc.

12: What is my moment before?

(This is the opening action. It must be something you do to your partner to get what you are fighting for. Can you physicalize this?)
